Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today received the British Ambassador to Iraq, Mark Bryson-Richardson.
Prime Minister Barzani emphasized the efforts underway to settle the disputes between the Iraqi federal and Kurdish governments, stressing that Iraq agreeing to send the Kurdistan Region’s November and December shares of the budget could be a step to reaching an agreement on oil and gas law, disputed territories and other matters.
Both sides discussed the latest developments in Iraq and the broader region, as well as ways to strengthen relations between the Kurdistan Region and Britain.

President Nechirvan Barzani received today in Erbil Mr. Mark Bryson Richardson, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Iraq, and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting discussed the bilateral relations of the UK with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and ways to further strengthen ties; the latest political developments and the formation of the new federal government in Baghdad were also highlighted.
Discussions also focused on the problems and difficulties facing Iraq, the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, and the latest visit of President Nechirvan Barzani to Baghdad and his meetings with high Iraqi officials to resolve the pending problems.
Both sides underlined the importance of providing improved services to Iraqi citizens, creating job opportunities, and the implementation of the government’s agenda. They also discussed the developments in the Kurdistan Region and the significance of unity among all sides in the Kurdistan Region, particularly the mutual stance and unity of the Kurdistan Region’s team in Baghdad.
President Nechirvan Barzani reiterated the Kurdistan Region’s support for the new Iraqi government and Prime Minister Sudani, emphasizing that there is an opportunity to resolve the problems of the country by the support of all parties in the federal government. The President also emphasized the importance of cooperation among the political parties in the Kurdistan Region to solve the problems with Baghdad.
Discussions also covered Iraq’s relations with neighboring and regional countries, the latest developments in the wider region, and other topics of mutual interest.

Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today received a delegation from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), headed by the agency’s Vice President Ando Naoki.
Prime Minister Barzani thanked the Japanese government and JICA for assisting the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in the process of reforming and establishing a solid economic infrastructure in the Kurdistan Region through professional project implementation.
The JICA delegation highlighted its work and activities in the Kurdistan Region, implemented in the fields of electricity, water, sewage, agriculture, and the re-modification of Erbil’s master plan in coordination with the KRG.
The agency also expressed the willingness of Japanese companies to initiate investments in the Kurdistan Region.

Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today received the European Union’s Ambassador to Iraq, Ville Varjola.
Prime Minister Barzani reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region’s willingness to resolve pending ties between Erbil and Baghdad, indicating that the allocation of the Region’s share from the federal 2023 budget should be conducted in a fair manner and in accordance with the constitution could be a step forward towards settling the issues.
Both sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the EU and the Kurdistan Region, predominantly through supporting the Ninth Cabinet’s reforms in diversifying the economy, strengthening the agricultural sector, and identifying opportunities on foreign markets, including European ones, to export the Region’s local produce.
Prime Minister Barzani and Ambassador Varjola also highlighted the significance of reforming the Kurdistan Region’s banking system and ways in which the EU could assist the process.

President Nechirvan Barzani received today in Erbil Mr. Memet Mevlut Yakut, the new Consul General of Turkey in the Kurdistan Region.
The President congratulated Mr. Yakut on assuming the office, wished him success in his duties, and expressed full support of the Kurdistan Region for the Consul General’s mission in the country.
For his part, Consul General Yakut expressed his appreciation and looked forward to further developing the bilateral relations of Turkey with the Kurdistan Region, particularly in fields of mutual interest.

President Nechirvan Barzani received today in Erbil Mr. Georgios Almanos, the new Ambassador of Greece to Iraq.
At the meeting, the President congratulated Mr. Almanos on assuming the office, wished him success in his duties, and voiced full support of the Kurdistan Region for the Ambassador’s mission in the country.
Discussions focused on the development of bilateral relations of Greece with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, particularly in the fields of education, trade, economy, and tourism.
For his part Ambassador Almanos praised the progress and peace in the Kurdistan Region and highlighted the significant role of the Kurdistan Region for the stability of Iraq and the wider region.
Also at the meeting, attended by the Consul General of Greece in the Kurdistan Region, other topics of mutual interest were discussed.

Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani today received the new Greek Ambassador to Iraq, Georgios Almanos.
Prime Minister Barzani congratulated the Ambassador on his new posting while expressing hopes of consolidating relations between the Kurdistan Region and Greece during their meeting which was also attended by the Greek Consul General to Erbil, Stavros Kyrimis.
Ambassador Almanos acknowledged the historical friendship between the Kurdistan Region and Greece, emphasizing the strengthening of bilateral ties in all fields, particularly in the areas of trade, agriculture, tourism, and education.
Erbil, Kurdistan Region (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani spoke by phone today with Lord Tariq Ahmad, the UK Minister of State for the Middle East, South Asia, and the United Nations.
Both sides emphasized the significance of the security and stability of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
Prime Minister Barzani thanked Britain’s support and technical assistance in digitalizing public services and reform taxes in the KRG. They highlighted strengthening of bilateral relations, particularly in security cooperation, education, trade and investment.
The Prime Minister also spoke of the Kurdistan Region’s first export of agricultural produce from Halabja and Zakho to the UAE and the Gulf.
Both agreed that the UK could support the Kurdistan Region in becoming a food basket to the broader region.
