Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Following an official invitation to attend the Munich Security Conference, MSC, which will be held in Tehran, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister, Nechirvan Barzani, will visit Tehran on 17 October.
The gathering will be co-hosted with the Institute for Political and International Studies, and held in cooperation with the governments of Germany and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
It will be held as part of MSC Core Group Meeting series, which will focus on “the implementation of the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program, Iran's regional role, the security architecture in the Middle East as well as the economic and energy policy implications of the Vienna agreement”, Munich Security Conference website stated.
Besides German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Zarif, “participants also include the Afghan Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani, the Iraqi Foreign Minister Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government Nechirvan Idris Barzani, the United Nations Deputy Special Envoy for Syria Ramzy Ezzeldin Ramzy, the Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service Helga Schmid, the President of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the French National Assembly Élisabeth Guigou and the Chairman of the German Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee Norbert Röttgen, as well as governmental representatives from various Arab states, numerous parliamentarians from European countries and NGO representatives”, said MSC website.
In a statement to Kurdistan Regional Government website, Sami Ergoushi, Kurdistan Region Prime Minister’s press officer said, “It is expected that Prime Minister Barzani will meet, during his visit, a number of officials in the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister, Nechirvan Barzani, yesterday received Hassan Danaei-Far, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Iraq and his accompanying delegation.
Ambassador Danaei-Far valued Kurdistan Region for its continuous progress and development, successful campaigns against the Islamic State terrorist organisation, ISIS, and resistance to the economic difficulties which the Region faces, as well as the Region’s ability to accommodate a significant number of refugees and internally displaced people.
He reiterated his country’s support for the Kurdistan Regional Government, KRG, and highlighted bilateral relations, expressing his wishes for further developing these relations.
Prime Minister Barzani thanked the delegation for their visit, describing the relations between Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran as historic. He said, Iran has been helping Kurdistan Region people in the difficult times.
He expressed his wishes for further developing bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iraq.
The situation in the region, Iraq and the relations between KRG and Iraqi Federal Government were among the topics, discussed in the meeting.
Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (cabinet.gov.krd) - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister, Nechirvan Barzani, made a statement on the occasion of the nuclear deal reached between representatives of 5 +1 group of countries, which include the five permanent members of the UN Security Council as well as Germany and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Following is the text of the statement:
On the occasion of the agreement reached between 5 +1 group of countries and the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the Iranian nuclear file, we extend our congratulations to the leader, the Presidency and the people of Iran. We hope that this agreement will mark the beginning of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the countries and peoples of the world, for the sake of achieving world peace and progress of humanity.
This agreement is the evidence that patience and perseverance in talks and negotiations, constitute the best way to bring about agreement between the nations in the world. On this occasion, we highly value the work achieved by all the negotiating delegations, their cooperation and the relentless efforts of the United Nations in maintaining coordination in order to preserve world peace.
With this in mind, I would like to highlight our friendly relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and we are confident that this agreement will be a factor of strengthening and further developing the relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran in all the fields.

On 26th Dec, 2014 the president of Kurdistan parliament, In an interview received, Ali Larijani, head of the Iranian Consultative Council , who was delighted to visit the Kurdistan Parliament and met with the President of the Parliament and the heads of parliamentary blocs of Kurdistan Parliament, stressing on the historical relations between the two sides and the Iranian assistance to the Kurdish people, especially during the period of dictatorship rule in Iraq, referring to the aid provided by the republic Islamic to Kurdish people during and after the fall of the dictatorial regime to establish a democratic system, the head of the Iranian Consultative Council insist on the need to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two sides during the coming period, and about the threat of terrorism organize ISIS terrorist.
For his part, Dr. Yousef Mohammad Sadiq President of the Kurdistan Parliament showed his happiness for visiting the Iranian parliament to the Kurdistan region and builds strong bilateral relations between the two sides, hoping this relation between the Kurdistan Parliament and Iranian Parliament.
With the presence of Kurdistan Region Representative in Iran and Kurdish outstanding personification, the celebration of the Kurdish singer Aladdin Babashahabi was held in Iran.
With the presence of Dr. Jegarkhowein (Mohammad Seddiq Ahmad) the deputy-representative of KRG in Tehran, Dr. As’ad Arsalan, university instructor and senior expert in international law affairs, Hushang Kamkar famous composer,Pashang Kamkar experienced glockenspiel player and the member of Kamkar Music Band, a number of Kurd Society Broad residing in center, Dr. Ghotbeddin Sadeghi play-writer and famous play director, Muhammad Saleh Nikbakht jurist and experienced lawyer, Dr. Muhammad Ali Sultani researcher and outstanding writer of Kermanshah, Bahram Valadbeigi the head of Kurdistan Culture Institute in Tehran, Muhammad Kamanger pioneer journalist of Kurd and ex-coworker of Kermanshah radio and Kurdish radio of Tehran, Sadigh Tariff Kurdish vocalist, a number of Kurdish representatives of last rounds of Islamic Republic of Iran, a number of researchers, artists and writers of Kurd and Kurdistan culture, art and music fans accompanied Art and Culture
Institute of Simagostar Zagros effort run by Muhammad Fereiduni Kurdish dubber along with deceased Aladdin Babashahabi’s family and with Parviz Habibi mastering, the 7th ceremony and celebration of the Kurdish famous singer Aladdin Babashahabi was held in the chief mosque of Shahrak Gharb in Tehran.
Also his memory was cherished. This Kurdish artist said good-by the passing world for infarction at his son’s home in Tehran at 4pm on June 26th. And his body was transferred to Sanandaj.
It was 10 on Friday June 27th. 1393 during a ceremony with the presence of his family members, the people of Salavat Ava, his hometown, and with Kurdistan representative in Islamic Council Parliament, the artists and authorities of Sanandaj accompanied with a large crowd of different art-lover people of the town and others was transferred from Mullah Veisi Mosque of Sanandaj to the cemetery of Muhammadi Paradise and was buried in the section of artists.
President Masoud Barzani met with the visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohamad Javad Zarif in Erbil on Tuesday. The two discussed the fight against ISIS terrorists, government formation process in Baghdad and other issues of mutual concern.
Foreign Minister Zarif stated that the Islamic Republic would always stand by the Iraqis, including the people of Kurdistan, against terrorism, adding that the terrorism is a threat everyone, be it Shia, Sunni or Kurds. He further added that it is in the interest of Iran to fight terrorism.
President Barzani expressed his gratitude to the Islamic Republic for their support in the fight against terrorism, and hope that relations between the two sides would continue to grow. He added that terrorism is a threat to all, and that cooperation is needed by all sides to address this threat.
On government formation in Baghdad, Mr Zarif expressed his country’s desire to see an inclusive government formed in Baghdad and urged the Kurds to actively play their role to help form such a government. He said the Islamic Republic would support any agreement reached between Baghdad and Erbil.
President Barzani stated that he supports the efforts to form an inclusive government in Baghdad, adding that there must be guarantees regarding any agreements reached between Erbil and Baghdad.
