As the groundwork for common and interactive cooperation of Iran and regional Arabian countries laid Nazem Dabbagh the representative of KRG of Iraq in Tehran believes that the key role of Iran in the Middle East has been uncovered to all more than ever.

Nazem Dabbagh in the talk with Name News reporter concerning the recent phrases of the secretary-general of Persian Gulf Cooperative Council of about the necessity to Iran’s attention by regional Arabian countries with aim of Iran’s taking part in drawing a regional strategies Said: the current conditions of the region as compared to the conditions of the Middle East in recent years have been highly different.

Now Tehran by itself has been able to change to a key and central actor in the region by playing a constructive and positive role in Syria and Iraq. Relating to this he added: the current conditions of the region demands that countries are allied to repel the common enemies. By standing against ISIS in initial days of this group’s strike to Iraq and before by supporting Bashar Assad Iran could prove that he has an undeniable presence in the region and that is why now Arabian countries specially after positive nuclear negotiations between Iran and the west are in a way looking for common cooperative work ground with Iran. 

The representative KRG of Iraq in Iran said as well: when the authorities of regional Arabian countries say Iran has to catch regional countries’ trust, they have to regard this that this matter is a bilateral case and means that has the regional countries has to do so.

Kurdistan parliament speaker, Dr. Yusif Muhammad Sadiq, and the delegation accompanied with him, came back to Erbil, capital of the Kurdistan region, after a one-week visit to Holland. The main goal of the visit was to meet Holland’s politicians and to supply humanitarian, political, and military aids for the Kurdistan region.

For this purpose, the Kurdish delegation of the Kurdistan parliament met with the foreign minister of Holland and put shed on the recent events in Kurdistan such as attacks of IS militants and fleeing of hundreds of thousands of Yezidis, Christian, and Arab refugees to Kurdistan following IS’s brutal assaults. Consequently, the Holland parliament and government decided to take part in the international campaign against terrorism and IS. In addition, Holland showed its interest to provide humanitarian and military assistance for the Kurdistan region.

Prepared by the representative of the Kurdistan regional government in Holland, another part of the delegation’s activity was a speech concerning the current situation of Kurdistan, given by the speaker of the Kurdistan parliament in a seminar. A number of the representatives of the Kurdistan political parties and Holland civil society organizations attended the seminar.

Regarding the case of introducing IS militants’ cruel attacks on ethnic minority groups such as Yezidis, Christians, and Turkmen as genocide, the Kurdistan parliament delegation visited the International Criminal Court (ICC) in Lahai and took some strong steps for it.

Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq (KRG.org) – Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani yesterday received Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil and his accompanying delegation.

The Prime Minister noted his appreciation for the visit. Foreign Minister Bassil is the first Foreign Minister of an Arab country to visit the Kurdistan Region since the terrorist attacks began in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The Foreign Minister stressed that he came to the Kurdistan Region to convey his country’s solidarity and support.

Discussions centered on the political situation in Iraq, the impact of terrorists occupying parts of the country, the formation of the new government in Baghdad, and the importance of an inclusive government that represents all components of Iraqi society.

Prime Minister Barzani emphasised the need for substantive reform in Iraqi governance and the resolution of outstanding political issues in order to pave the way for a healthy political atmosphere. He said that the Kurdistan Region would participate in Iraq’s political process and negotiations.

The Prime Minister explained that the people of Kurdistan are proud of a culture of coexistence and tolerance that has been practiced in the Region for millennia. The KRG is committed to the protection of this culture and will exert all efforts and resources to ensure its continuation.

Both sides pointed to the importance of bilateral relations, discussing the dynamic presence of the Lebanese community in the Kurdistan Region. They discussed Lebanese involvement in trade, economic activity, development, reconstruction, and investment in the Kurdistan Region and how best to ensure and expand the mutually beneficial relationship.

Finally, the situation of displaced civilians and refugees currently in the Kurdistan Region was discussed. The Prime Minister described the extent of the humanitarian crisis and the need for urgent support from the international community.
