PM Masrour Barzani New Year Congratulatory Statement

Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq (GOV.KRD) - Prime Minister Masrour Barzani issued the following statement today to express his best wishes on New Year’s Eve to the people of the Kurdistan Region.

In his statement, the Prime Minister said:

“As 2022 arrives I congratulate President Masoud Barzani, the people of Kurdistan, our brave Peshmerga and the families of our martyrs.

“I hope the new year brings peace and prosperity and sees an end to all crises and tragedies.

“Last year, despite facing many obstacles, the KRG made every effort to continue its reform process and face off challenges. In cooperation with the private sector we were able to establish many important projects that helped strengthen the infrastructure in the Kurdistan Region.

“We hope that with the help of everyone we will be able to do an even better job in the coming year. I must thank the people of the Kurdistan Region for their resilience, despite the financial crises.

“Sadly, in the past year, many natural disasters and unfortunate incidents happened, causing many to suffer losses. A number of brave Peshmerga were martyred in facing of Islamic State terrorists. On this occasion, I pay my respects to their memory and their sacrifice.

“Happy new year to everyone, and may Kurdistan continue to be stronger and more prosperous.”
