On 5 May President Barzani and King Abdullah discussed opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, tourism, and other sectors. King Abdullah outlined his country's willingness to assist Kurdistan in human capacity building, also highlighting his support for greater security and stability in Iraq and reconciliation among the ethnic and sectarian components of Iraqi society. For his part, President Barzani praised Jordan's history of support for Iraqi people during difficult circumstances, and thanked King Abdullah for representing a voice of reason, moderation, and peace in the Middle East. The President presented his vision of greater and broader collaboration with the government and people of Jordan.
The delegation accompanying President Barzani included the Head of the Kurdistan Region Security Council Masrour Barzani, the KRG Minister of Interior Karim Sinjari, the President's Chief of Staff Dr Fuad Hussein, the Head of the KRG Department of Foreign Relations Minister Falah Mustafa, and Economic Advisor to the President Sarwar Pedawi.
President Barzani and the delegation were invited to attend the inauguration of the 10th Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX) in Jordan. King Abdullah, senior Jordanian officials, and foreign officials attended the event. The exhibition has been held every two years since 1996 and is an international forum that brings together the largest producers and developers of defence equipment in the world. This year 371 companies from 41 countries participated at SOFEX Jordan.
The meeting between President Barzani and King Abdullah was attended by Prince Feisal bin Hussein, Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, the King’s Office Director Imad Fakhoury, and other senior officials from the Jordanian side, in addition to President Barzani's delegation.
